Director of Development,
Street Angels - Christian Nightlife Initiatives

With an initial grant from the Church Urban Fund and supported by the Diocese of St Albans, Adam was able to move from a Trustee to a paid role within the charity. As Director of Development, the role was to offer a strategic management perspective and create long term sustainability to this umbrella organisation with encompasses approximately 100 local expressions throughout the country working principally in the night time economy. He worked closely with the Founder of Street Angels, Paul Blakey MBE in the development of the charity. Paul and Adam were recommended as two of five national leads as part of research conducted by the Association of Chief Police Officers on volunteer street patrols and night time economy issues.
Whilst being involved in the work of Street Angels – CNI Network, Adam supported the creation of a number of new volunteer street patrol projects, particularly guiding them through the set up process and launch. He was also the regional coordinator of the Midlands Leadership group.
In September 2011, Adam took part in a sponsored walk of 50ish miles between Fort William and Inverness over 3 days joined by Paul and Jeam Blakey.
A significant amount of development work within the charity involved raising the profile of the work, at local, regional and national levels, with government leaders, senior church leaderships and through the media. This led to the charity being awarded with one of the Prime Minister's Big Society Awards. A further element of this work has been around fundraising which involved writing letters and speaking with appropriate donors.
Crucial to his work has been the development of networking and relationship building opportunities. Through this, Adam was able to speak at a number of local and national events. The charity has led a number of flagship events which Adam have been involved in, including one of three national debates around the Alternative Vote Referendum organised by the Charities Parliament and the Big Society Tour led by Steve Chalke.
Adam undertook mentoring opportunities for a number of young people participating in Uprising scheme, in Bedford run by The Young Foundation. This has been included meeting with two groups to support them with their respective social action projects.
He was also frequently used by local and national media outlets to provide comment on relevant and appropriate issues. A notable example was a response to the government alcohol strategy.
